Position Summary

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Mercy Mental Health Ursula Frayne Centre is interested in hearing from RPN’s who would like to join our multi-disciplinary team in providing a highly responsive and flexible service to patients. Ursula Frayne Centre, is a 16 bed Acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit that seeks to provide a collaborative, person cantered and recovery-oriented approach to Mental Health care in a safe environment. Based at Western Hospital, Footscray, we cover South West of metropolitan Melbourne, close to the city centre.

  • Permanent full time and part time positions available - rotating roster
  • Work as a primary nurse with clinical responsibility for patients, and conduct thorough mental health assessments
  • Utilise the safe wards model and the recovery plan in supporting, advocating and caring for patients with a Mental Health illness as well as their families and carers
  • Opportunity for career development through taking on additional roles such as being in-charge of the ward
  • Salary is in line with the Enterprise Agreement and will be based on your years of experience

ABOUT YOU:

  • Sound experience in an Acute Mental Health setting
  • Current registration as a Nurse with AHPRA
  • Post Graduate qualification in Mental Health nursing or working towards same
  • An ability to think and act in a person centred, recovery orientated manner
  • Enthusiasm and energy to deliver a good quality service to the patients through team development
  • Evidence based practice rooted in the Safe wards’ framework

ABOUT US:

Mercy Mental Health (South West Area Mental Health Service) is a public mental health service supporting people in south west metropolitan Melbourne with severe and complex mental illnesses by providing acute and community-based care. Services are available to adults through acute inpatient programs, residential rehabilitation programs and crisis and community recovery-focused treatment programs. We also deliver inpatient and community specialist perinatal mental health services to women and infants in western Victoria.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Candidates are required to meet the position and qualification requirements.
  • Provide a current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check (Mercy Health may conduct additional background checks subject to current legislation).
  • Proof of vaccination status consistent with public health orders and with Mercy Health’s policy (includes but is not limited to COVID-19 and seasonal influenza vaccination compliance requirement).
