Position Summary

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Senior Occupational Therapist will work within a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team to ensure the client’s needs are assessed and met from an Occupational Therapy Perspective

  • Located at Werribee Mercy Hospital - Clare Moore Building (Acute Mental Health Unit but also assisting the Ursula Frayne Centre in Footscray)
  • Fixed term part time role.
  • Operational management of Grade 2 & Grade 1 OTs and Psychiatric Services Officers
  • Access to discipline specific supervision and support through the network of occupational therapists within the service
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities

 

ABOUT YOU:

  • Energy, initiative and a passion to work in the mental health arena
  • Registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist
  • Experience as an Occupational Therapist in a mental health clinical setting
  • A person-centred approach in thinking and practice, applying recovery concepts in practice
  • Excellent knowledge, skills and understanding of evidence-based OT specific assessments and interventions in mental health clinical practice
  • The ability to provide clinical direction and specialised knowledge to junior staff
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Develop and coordinate a therapeutic activities program for clients with a range of mental health diagnoses
  • Undertake ongoing quality improvement initiatives to ensure best outcomes for clients.
  • Post graduate qualifications in Mental Health a definite advantage

Mercy Mental Health (South West Area Mental Health Service) is a public mental health service supporting people in south west metropolitan Melbourne with severe and complex mental illnesses by providing acute and community-based care. Services are available to adults through acute inpatient programs, residential rehabilitation programs and crisis and community recovery-focused treatment programs. We also deliver inpatient and community specialist perinatal mental health services to women and infants in western Victoria.
