Position Summary

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Werribee Mercy Hospital is currently looking for Specialist intensivists to join the Senior Medical Staff team in the Intensive Care Unit on a fractional fixed term basis.

This is an exciting time to join Werribee Mercy Hospital with current and future developments which are planned to make this campus a major tertiary hub in Melbourne’s South West.

Our eight bed adult intensive care unit provides critical care services to patients with a wide spectrum of pathologies including complex medical, acute obstetrics and an expanding surgical work including major colorectal, major orthopaedics, upper GI and breast and endocrine in addition to standard general surgical workload. The unit is involved in the planning and development of services extending beyond the Unit to the provision of rapid response to deteriorating patient across the campus as well as the setup of innovative services in the perioperative space.

There is the opportunity for participation in undergraduate and postgraduate research and education through the University of Notre Dame. The unit is accredited for basic training by the College of Intensive Care Medicine and accepts trainees from Medical, Anaesthetic, General Surgical and Emergency Medicine programs and is accredited for the critical care component of these training programs also. The unit is part of the ANZICS network and is an active participant in ANZICS CTG research projects.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Unrestricted registration with AHPRA
  • Specialist qualification in Intensive Care Medicine (FCICM or equivalent)
  • Participates in appropriate program of continuing professional development
  • No restrictions on employment in Australia i.e. Australian citizen, permanent resident or on appropriate employment visa for Australia

Werribee Mercy Hospital is a General Public Hospital located in the rapidly growing Western suburbs of Melbourne. Our services include surgical, medical, maternity, newborn, renal dialysis, emergency, mental health, rehabilitation, aged and palliative care. The hospital has recently undergone significant expansion with the opening or our new intensive care unit, additional operating theatres and the opening of two new wards, taking the total number of beds to 298.
