ABOUT THE ROLE:

 

Summary of the role: We are very excited to be able to advertise for a Mental Health Occupational Therapy Educator to support clinicians in our new Transition to Mental Health Practice Occupational Therapy program. We currently have Occupational Therapy Transition Clinicians across Saltwater Clinic in Footscray and Wyndham Clinic in Hoppers Crossing. This is an exciting opportunity for existing educators or experienced Occupational Therapists interested in entering the education space. The Transition Program is a 12-month program targeted towards Social Workers and Occupational Therapists who already have at least 2 years of experience from another field and are interested in moving into mental health. The transition positions give experienced clinicians the opportunity to enter the mental health workforce with structured learning support to build mental health capability. The positions will be supported by clinical educators. The transition positions will be supported by the Learning and Development Team.  

  • Mercy Mental Health, multiple sites, Footscray (Saltwater Clinic), Hoppers Crossing (Wyndham Clinic).
  • Part-Time Fixed Term, 0.4 EFT, 12-month contract 
  • Support and nurture Occupational Therapy Transition Clinicians 
  • Provide clinical education and individual clinical supervision/group reflective practice
  • Serve as a valued member of the Learning and Development Team 
  • Work alongside our other allied health (Occupational Therapy and Social Work), Psychology and Nursing educators to support the wider mental health workforce and student programs. 

 

ABOUT YOU:

 

An approved degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist

Extensive experience and expertise in mental health service delivery

A current Victorian Driver’s Licence and ability to drive a work vehicle

Post registration qualification in education or relevant clinical area (desirable)

Services are available to adults through acute inpatient programs, residential rehabilitation programs and crisis and community recovery-focused treatment programs. We also deliver inpatient and community specialist perinatal mental health services to women and infants in western Victoria.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Candidates are required to meet the position and qualification requirements.
  • Provide a current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check (Mercy Health may conduct additional background checks subject to current legislation).
  • Proof of vaccination status consistent with public health orders and with Mercy Health’s policy (includes but is not limited to COVID-19 and seasonal influenza vaccination compliance requirement).
